ISG CELEBRATES 16th FOUNDERS DAY
A grand celebration was held at the

The evening’s
programme began with the Principal, Mr. G. Thangadurai, reading out the Annual
Report which highlighted the CBSE results of the school as well as the
achievements of the ISG students in curricular and cocurricular activities. The
Guest of Honour, Professor Khader, addressed the audience thereafter and
advocated the necessity to provide a holistic education for all students.

A formal farewell
was given to Mr. B. S. Bhatnagar, the former Principal of the school by the
entire ISG community. Glowing tributes were paid to him by the Founder of the
school, Dr. P. Mohamed Ali. He said that Mr. Bhatnagar took up the challenge to
nurture this school in 1991 and take it to great heights, and ever since, he
has not had a moments rest. Mr. Ahmed Rayees, the President of the Management
Committee said that Mr. Bhatnagar had been a driving force where this school is
concerned and that he had looked up to him for guidance during his long
association with him. He assured Mr. Bhatnagar that the ISG family would live
up to his expectations and continue to strive for the best. Mr. A. F. Joy, a
senior member of the teaching faculty spoke about his 24 years association with
Mr. Bhatnagar and also thanked him on behalf
of all the teaching and administrative staff.
Manoj Rao, a class
12 student, said that no speech could do full justice to what Mr. Bhatnagar had
done for the school but what would stand the test of time was the love of the
students for him. A video presentation entitled, A Tribute to Mr. Bhatnagar,
showing Mr. Bhatnagar’s journey in ISG from 1991 to 2006, was one of the
highlights of the evenings programme. Thereafter, Mr. Bhatnagar addressed the
audience in his inimitable humorous manner.

Shaikh Salim Al Araimi and Professor Khader
gave away the prizes to all the meritorious students.
The cultural
programme began with Sangeet Manthan, a classical music concert, which was
presented by the Indian Music choir. 35 students presented this combination of
vocal and instrumental music through traditional bols.
The School Band
comprising 30 students played a variety of tunes ranging from the patriotic to
the lilting ones.
The highlight of
the evening was the last item on the programme- the musical , Anastasia with
lyrics by Lynn Abrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. The show which had a cast
of 190 students enthralled the audience. Kamika Jha impressed the audience with
her poignant portrayal of Anastasia. Akshay Gopalan gave a sterling performance
as Dimitri and Arun Bharadwaj complemented him with his performance as
Ankit Karat, the
Headboy of the school proposed the vote of thanks and another important event
in the annals of the school came to a very successful end.
