ISG ALUMNUS CHOSEN FOR PRESTIGIOUS PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS
Indian School Al Ghubra alumnus, Pranay Prakash, who belongs to the class of 2015 was chosen to participate in the prestigious Y Combinator accelerator 2019.
After finishing high school in 2015, Pranay attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign for a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Having the same deep concern felt by people about the privacy of their personal data and having worked at Facebook himself which handles the private data of two billion users, Pranay was inspired to start his own company in 2018 while still at the University. It addresses the issue of privacy through software which solves the problem once and for all.
Founded by the legendary computer scientist and entrepreneur Paul Graham, Y combinator is an American company which created a new model for funding early stage startups. The company has launched over 2,000 companies including Stripe, Airbnb, Dropbox, Instacart etc.
He was invited to move to San Fransisco and participate in Y Combinator a month before he graduated from the University. The participants of the programme receive an investment of $150,000 in their company and mentorship from the partners at Y Combinator besides getting access to an elite network of Silicon Valley founders, investors and advisors.
Pranay Prakash was born in Rustaq, Oman and did his entire schooling at ISG. He was fascinated with computers from an early age and began programming at age 8. His interests led him to pursue a Computer Science education in the United States and internships at Facebook, Allstate and ZEIT before starting his own company.
Expressing his gratitude to his Alma Mater in an email to the Principal Mrs Papri Ghosh, Pranay stated “My time at ISG……prepared me for this moment. I can't easily express the amount of gratitude I have towards my school, my teachers' efforts, and your guidance at ISG to help me achieve what I have so far.”
