ISG CELEBRATES 74th REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA WITH ZEAL

The 74th Republic Day of India was celebrated by Indian School Al Ghubra with patriotic zeal and fervour. Dr. C. M . Najeeb - Member of the School Management Committee, presided over the programme which began with the  singing of  the National Anthem of India. The school band then played evergreen patriotic numbers such as  ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’  and ‘ Vande Maatharam’ which resonated in the hearts of all present.  It was followed by the school choir singing a rousing song titled ‘ Ghar Ghar Tiranga’ which was about the Indian National Flag and the values it stands for.

Gouri Reghu of class 8,  presented a self-written poem expressing feelings of joy and pride at the privilege of belonging to a land with a rich heritage and a promising future.  This was followed by a choral recitation by the students of class 6, 7 and 8 wherein the poem, ‘The Glorious Vision – the Saga of Freedom’ was rendered. The forceful and expressive recitation compelled the audience to reflect on the  freedom won  after many sacrifices and filled their hearts with gratitude and determination to work hard in service of the nation.

The highlight of the programme was a riveting performance by the graceful dancers of ISG. The audience watched mesmerised as the dancers presented through their choreography, their own meaning of the poem ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’ by Rabindranath Tagore. The movements by which they wove beautiful formations on the stage were a happy blend of languid elegance and boundless energy. It showcased the splendour of the classical dance forms of India which was highly appreciated by the audience.

The celebrations ended with the Principal,  Mrs. Papri Ghosh reading a special prayer for the continued progress of India and its people.
