ISG MARKS SANSKRIT DAY 2023

The Department of Sanskrit of Indian School Al Ghubra celebrated ‘Sanskrit Day’ on Thursday, the 31st of August 2023 in the school premises. The event started with a Sanskrit Prayer by K.K.Vinaya Sudarshan and Saranya Bhat of class 10.The comperes welcomed and greeted the gathering on the occasion of Vishwa Samskrita Dinam 2023.

Students of Class 6 recited a set of Subhashita Slokas with English translation. Mukund Sunil Menon of class 9 delivered a speech in Sanskrit titled ‘Amritam Samskritam’. Students of class 7 presented a skit in Sanskrit titled ‘The Tricolour Flag’ where they shared various facts about the Indian National Flag. Sharvesh Shivdev of class 9 and Darsh R. Mallia of class 7, showcased their skills in fine arts by playing the traditional Indian instruments of  Mridangam and Veena.

Adhithi Krishnaji of class 12 and Dhanya Krishnaji of Class 9, together sang a Sanskrit song titled ‘Sarvamangala Daayiniyam’ which described the beauty of Sanskrit language. While a group of students from classes 6 and 10 demonstrated  some yoga asanas , students of class 10 presented a Sloka recitation on the topic ‘Exercise is Always Beneficial’. Class 9 students presented a group song in Sanskrit titled ‘Vande Bhaarata Maatram’ in praise of the motherland. Students from classes 6 to 8 performed a group dance based on a Sanskrit song titled ‘Bhaarata-maata Budhajana Gita’ which captured the hearts of all.

The Vice-Principal, Mr. G. Sreekumar highlighted the significance of Sanskrit language and congratulated the students who scored centum in Sanskrit in the class 10 CBSE Examinations of 2022-23. The ten toppers in Sanskrit were appreciated for their hard work with a gift of the book ‘Sudinam Astu’ written by Dr. Narayanan, the Head of the Department of Sanskrit. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Narayanan. The event concluded with a Prayer in Sanskrit.
