ISG CELEBRATES THE 34TH ANNUAL DAY OF PRIMARY SECTION WITH A GLOBAL THEME OF SUSTAINABILITY

Muscat, December 3, 2024: The 34th Annual Day of the Primary Section at Indian School Al Ghubra was celebrated with grandeur and enthusiasm, spreading a strong message of sustainability and global harmony. The theme for this year, The Happy Planet Show - Smiles and Sustainability,” took the audience on an extraordinary journey across 10 countries, showcasing diverse cultures and emphasising the importance of protecting our planet.

 

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mrs Sumaiya, Member of the School Management Committee, and honoured by the presence of Mr Sunil K A, Convenor, School Management Committee, along with parents and well-wishers who filled the auditorium with their support and cheer. The programme began with the Royal Anthem of Oman, followed by the National Anthem of India. In a beautiful cultural tradition, the Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by Ameya Srikhant of Class 3.

 

The Principal, Mrs Papri Ghosh, extended a heartfelt welcome to the gathering and commended the efforts of the students, teachers, and parents. In her speech, the Chief Guest, Mrs Sumaiya, highlighted the importance of spending quality time with children, encouraging them to explore their surroundings and connect with nature.

 

A total of 517 students participated in the cultural showcase, delivering an awe-inspiring 2-hour performance that reflected the vibrant cultures of Portugal, Bhutan, Indonesia, Ecuador, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kazakhstan, Peru, Tuvalu, South Korea, and Latvia. The event celebrated the essence of these countries through a medley of dances, skits, and songs, each portraying unique traditions and values that unite humanity in a shared love for the planet. The programme’s innovative use of LED backdrops and students clad in stunning costumes created a breathtaking visual treat for the audience.

 

The highlight of the evening was the Grand Finale, where all the students came together to deliver a poignant message: “It is up to each one of us to take care of this one and only planet by embracing sustainable practices to ensure a brighter future for all.” The stage came alive with a riot of colours, as the young performers urged everyone to join hands for a greener tomorrow. The event concluded with a warm Vote of Thanks proposed by Arihant Chamola and Chloe Terry of Class 5, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, parents, and the tireless efforts of teachers and students in making the evening a success.

 

The 34th Annual Day was more than a cultural programme – it was a reminder of the role every individual plays in creating a sustainable future. ISG continues to lead by example, empowering its young minds to make a positive difference in the world.
