Indian School Al Ghubra Student Excels in Sydney Innovation Challenge
It’s a moment of pride for Indian School Al Ghubra and the Sultanate of Oman. Hanisha Manish Chawla, of Class 12 has secured the third place in the prestigious Sydney Innovation Challenge, organized by the University of Sydney. Representing Oman as its sole participant, Hanisha competed against a global pool of innovators, showcasing remarkable ingenuity and problem-solving skills.
Hanisha's project, "AquaRevive" addressed a pressing global issue, earned widespread praise from a distinguished panel of judges for its creativity, practicality, and potential for real-world impact. The achievement was made possible with the invaluable guidance of Ms. Jayal Tharakan, the student’s mentor, who played a crucial role in refining and shaping the project.
Expressing gratitude, the student said, “Being the only representative from Oman was both an honor and a challenge. I am immensely thankful to my Principal, Mrs. Papri Ghosh, who has always encouraged me to strive for the best and my mentor, Ms. Jayal Tharakan, for her unwavering support and guidance throughout this journey."
The Sydney Innovation Challenge is renowned for encouraging young minds of Classes 11 and 12 to tackle global challenges through innovative solutions. This year, the challenge was to come up with a business plan regarding UNSDG6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Hanisha's project mechanism - "AquaRevive" revolved around collecting polluted water and converting it into purified water sustainably. Moreover, AquaRevive can also distribute clean water to areas with water scarcity.
This outstanding accomplishment by Hanisha Manish Chawla and ISG serves as an inspiration for other students to embrace opportunities on international platforms, strengthening Oman’s presence in the global innovation front.
