ISG GAVELIERS WIN TOP HONOURS IN THE OMAN GAVEL CHAMPIONSHIP OF PUBLIC SPEAKING

The Gaveliers from Indian School Al Ghubra claimed top honours at the Oman Gavel Championship of Public Speaking held at Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir on 27th and 28th January 2023. A total of 264 contestants from 33 Gavel clubs across the Sultanate participated in the 8 Semifinals conducted on Friday, 27th January 2023.

ISG Gavel Club fielded 32 Gaveliers who participated in the four categories of the Competition – Humorous speech, Evaluation speech, Table Topics speech and International speech. The Gaveliers from ISG Gavel Club made a mark with their confidence, poise and élan. 22 of the ISG Gaveliers qualified for the Finals held on Saturday, 28th January. There were a total of 32 Finalists for the four categories.

It was a proud and extremely joyous moment when ISG Gavel Club grabbed a total of 9 of the 12 prizes in the Finals. This achievement by the Gaveliers is a record of sorts; a near clean-sweep by the ISG Gavel Club.

Mithun Manikandan and Anika Govil won the second and the third positions respectively in the Humorous speech category. Lakshmi Rajeev Menon won the second position in the Evaluation speech category. Brijesh Chowdary, Lakshmi Rajeev Menon and Aditi Guru won the first, second and third positions respectively in the Table Topics speech. The victorious Gaveliers in the International speech were Sanjana Praveen, Lakshmi Rajeev Menon and Sabyasachi Choudhury in the first, second and third positions respectively. With this glorious performance, ISG Gavel Club were declared the overall Champions of the Oman Gavel Championship of Public Speaking.

The Principal, Ms Papri Ghosh and the management of Indian School Al Ghubra applauded the Gaveliers on their exemplary performance and appreciated the Counsellors for providing the appropriate platform and training for the Gaveliers.
