ISG STUDENTS SHINE AT CBSE NATIONAL SPORTS COMPETITIONS
Students of Indian School Al Ghubra showcased an impressive performance at the CBSE National Sports Competitions in Swimming and Badminton.
Competing against the top talents across India, the Swimmers from ISG secured 12 medals at the National Swimming Meet held at Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India from the 11th to 14th of October 2024.
Nitish Sai Harinath, a talented swimmer from class 10, captivated the spectators with his performance. He won 2 Gold Medals in the 50 meters Freestyle and 50 meters Butterfly stroke, along with a Silver Medal in the 100 meters Freestyle. Nitish also contributed to the team’s success by securing 2 Bronze Medals in the 100 meters Butterfly stroke and the 4x100 meters Freestyle Relay in the Under 17 boys category. Apart from Nitish, the Relay team comprised Jayin Sharma, Satvik Kumar, Grishnesh Reddy Eluru, and Janak Sagar Patil.
In the Under 17 Girls category, Avighna Chinthala also shone brightly, clinching 2 Silver Medals in the 50 meters Freestyle and 50 meters Backstroke, as well as 3 Bronze Medals in the 100 meters Freestyle, 100 meters Backstroke, and 200 meters Backstroke.
The ISG Girls Under 17 Relay Team further increased the medal tally by securing 2 Silver Medals in the 4x100 meters Freestyle Relay and the 4x100 meters Medley Relay. The team comprised Avighna Chinthala, N. Haripriya Satish, Jia Parijat Singh, and Aditi Bhakat.
In Badminton, Aarushi Manikandan, a class 11 student secured a Silver Medal in the CBSE National Badminton Championship held at Sendhwa in Madhya Pradesh, India from October 5to10.
The Principal Mrs. Papri Ghosh and the members of the School Management Committee congratulated the athletes on their stupendous performance and the members of the Department of Physical Education. The school community is hopeful that the students will continue to inspire with their sporting endeavours at international events.
