ISG Swimmers Dazzle with Historic Medal Haul at CBSE Nationals
Swimmers from Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) delivered a stellar performance at the CBSE National Swimming Championship for Girls, held from September 24 to 27, 2025, at KIIT International School in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
The ISG girls’ contingent amassed an impressive tally of eight medals etching their names on the national stage and bringing immense honour not only to their institution but also to the Sultanate of Oman.
Avighna Chinthala, a Class 10 student, emerged as the star performer, winning three gold medals in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, and 100m Backstroke, along with a silver medal in the 200m Individual Medley. Her exceptional performance earned her the coveted Overall Individual Championship Trophy in the Under-17 category — a first for any swimmer from Oman at the CBSE Nationals.
Joining her in the spotlight was Aditi Shankar of Class 9, who also competed in the Under-17 category. She secured a gold medal in the 400m Individual Medley and a bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke. Her superlative display underlined ISG’s growing dominance in competitive swimming.
The ISG girls’ relay team, comprising Avighna Chinthala, Aditi Shankar, N. Haripriya Satish, and Jia Parijat Singh, further elevated the school’s medal count by winning silver and bronze medals in relay events. Their coordination, determination, and team spirit were evident in their strong finishes.
These achievements are particularly noteworthy as the CBSE National Swimming Championship attracts top swimmers from CBSE-affiliated schools across India and the Gulf region, making the competition both prestigious and highly competitive.
The members of the School Management Committee and the Principal Mrs. Papri Ghosh extended their heartfelt congratulations to the entire team. The school expressed pride in their accomplishments and confidence that these young athletes will continue to bring glory in future competitions.
